Safety & Community Guidelines
Essential safety practices, community conduct rules, and built-in moderation tools for text-only conversations.
At Strangora, your safety and peace of mind are our highest priorities. As an anonymous text-only stranger-chat platform, we provide built-in safety controls, but your personal vigilance is your best defense. Please review and practice these safety rules at all times.
1. The Golden Rule: Protect Your Real Identity
When chatting with strangers online, keep personal identifying details private and confidential:
- Never Share Your Real Name: Always chat using your chosen pseudonym or guest handle. Never disclose your legal first and last name.
- Never Reveal Your Address: Keep your physical location, home address, apartment number, workplace, school, college, or daily commute routes strictly confidential.
- Never Share Direct Contact Information: Do not share your phone number, WhatsApp, personal email, Telegram, Snapchat, Instagram, or social media handles. Scammers frequently try to pull users off Strangora onto unmoderated private messaging apps.
- Keep Financial Details 100% Secret: Never reveal bank account numbers, credit/debit card numbers, CVVs, UPI IDs, cryptocurrency wallet addresses, PayPal details, or passwords.
- Never Share Official Documents: Do not share photos or copies of your driver's license, passport, national ID card, utility bills, or student credentials.
2. Beware of Financial Scams & Extortion
Online scammers operate on stranger-chat sites. Stay vigilant against common scam patterns:
- Requests for Money: Anyone asking you for financial help, emergency travel money, gift cards, crypto transfers, or medical assistance is a scammer. Never send money to anyone you meet online.
- "Get-Rich-Quick" & Crypto Schemes: Be wary of strangers offering lucrative investment advice, forex trading systems, work-from-home tasks, or cryptocurrency schemes.
- Phishing Links & Suspicious Downloads: Do not click on shortened URLs, unfamiliar links, or download files sent by strangers. These may contain spyware, keyloggers, or phishing forms.
- Sextortion & Blackmail Warning: Never share explicit text, compromising details, or personal secrets. Malicious actors may screenshot messages and attempt to blackmail you. If someone threatens you, do not pay them β block and report them immediately.
3. Text-Only Platform Boundaries
Strangora is intentionally a text-only environment. We do not have cameras, webcams, or microphone features by design:
- If a stranger aggressively pressures you to move to another platform (such as Skype, Zoom, or WhatsApp) "to verify you're real" or "turn on video", be extremely cautious. This is a common tactic to obtain your personal contact details or record video material.
- Enjoy the simplicity and comfort of text chat without camera pressure.
4. Community Conduct & Zero Tolerance
We enforce a strict zero-tolerance policy against toxic or predatory behavior:
- No harassment, cyberbullying, hate speech, racism, or threats of violence.
- Sexually explicit content, sexual solicitation, coercive or non-consensual sexual content, and sexual exploitation are prohibited. Respectful, non-explicit conversation between adults is allowed.
- No spamming, commercial solicitation, financial scams, or automated bot broadcasts.
- Violations may result in immediate session termination, account suspension, or access restrictions where technically feasible.
5. Built-in Safety Controls: How to Protect Yourself
Strangora puts total control in your hands with real-time safety tools:
- π« Instant User Block: If a chat partner is rude, offensive, or makes you feel uncomfortable, click the π« Block User button in the chat header or choose Submit Report & Block. That user is instantly blocked for your active session (and registered accounts are permanently blocked from contacting you). Because unregistered guest identifiers are temporary, you can always block or exit any unwanted conversation immediately.
- β οΈ Report User: If a user violates community guidelines, solicits money, or engages in abusive conduct, click the β οΈ Report User button and select the reason. When a report is submitted, up to the last 5 messages from that active conversation may be retained with the report for safety review and are automatically deleted after 30 days.
- βοΈ Exit at Any Time: You are never obligated to stay in a conversation. Click the βοΈ Close button or switch users whenever you want. You owe no stranger an explanation.
6. Watch for Warning Signs (Red Flags)
- Asking for your personal phone number, Instagram, or WhatsApp within minutes.
- Professing intense romantic love or emotional dependence very quickly.
- Telling dramatic, tragic stories and asking for financial help or gift cards.
- Sending links to "vote for a contest", "check out photos", or "verify your identity".
- Refusing to accept "no" when you establish a boundary.
7. Emergency & International Safety Resources
